StaticFilter
Okay, I recently picked up a 1993 Subaru Legacy Sport Sedan for $1100. Odometer has 212,000 miles but it has had a motor swap done. It has a turbo and is SUPPOSEDLY a 2.5L RS engine with ~100,000 miles. The serial on the block is 918834. Anyone know how I can tell for sure what motor i have? DOHCEJ22E1
You have an EJ22 Turbo SOHC for sure. That's a 2.2, not a 2.5. Check on the block under the power steering reservoir to see the stamp to confirm. It will say EJ then 2 numbers.
StaticFilter
Says EJ22 > I'm thinking there was some lying going on somewhere down the line... great
Jonathan
The EJ22T is one of the best motors Subaru has ever built. It is incredibly durable and with better cylinder heads can produce considerably more power. There is a reason why Crawford performance hunts down these motors and adds an Iron sleeve in their 2.7L conversions. In stock form your EJ22T is more powerful than the EJ25 although not as fuel efficient.
