carnumber19
I have a 95 Legacy L with the 5 speed. I have my brother swapping out the throwout bearing in the trans this weekend and while its up on his lift I figure I'll have him replace the differential fluid as well. I'm pretty sure its all 75w90 for the trans, mid diff, and rear diff, correct? If so, how much for each? I think I read it was 4 quarts for the trans but not sure about the rest. carnumber19
Also, any problems running synthetic in the differentials? I'd like to go full synthetic everywhere, but not sure if the reduced friction will be a problem on the clutch discs.
Osei
No problem in running synthetics. Just drain as much of old stuff out as possible. Gear changes are slicker. Should not be a major difference if any in capacities for 5mt. Front is 3.7 quarts. Just put in 3 and check your dipstick as you add. Rear is .8 qt. just drain from lower hole. Replace plug putting sealant on threads and fill through top hole until fluid just starts to come out or you can just put your finger in and when you can feel liquid, stop. Buy a manual. O. Bannonjr
I run amsoil's 75w90 SVG in the tranny and rear...works great! Really reduced the chug in the tranny, especially in the winter..and no more gear whine.
