Jeffzguy
So my crank pulley has started to wobble and squeak, well I am curious both how this happened and if the solution is just a new pulley?
Bdubs
The wobble is common. A new one may help you, as long as the shaft on the crank itself hasn't been destroyed thanks to the wobble. Also, torque specs on repair manuals were incorrect, resulting in ruined cranks, sheared keyways, etc.
Jeffzguy
What is correct then?
Bdubs
If you can get it to around 140-150 ft lbs, that's about where you want to be.
Jeffzguy
Now where do I get a new pulley?
Legacy Wagon
Junk yard. It depends if your key on the crankshaft is ruined. You'll need to pull off that gear that is behind the crank pulley and check to see if that key is twisted or missing or possibly eating into your crank pulley. If the key's destroyed you should get one of those too. It looks like a half moon sticking out of your crankshaft.
Jeffzguy
Oh, just sent that PM before I read this, I can call my crappy junk yard where I can't pull myself.
Legacy Wagon
Yeah, but tell them to get you that gear behind the pulley and the key just in case then.
