thoughts on possible exhaust setup

Hey folks, I've been playing with the idea of adding a cutout to my exhaust so I can keep the stock sound when I want it, and open things up when I want that. Then I realized the cutout doesn't need to dump straight out under the car. What about having a muffler shop weld up something so it goes from my race-catted dp -> cutout where the "normal" flow is to the other two stock cats + mufflers etc. Possibly have the whole thing done in 3" so it won't reduce flow. Then have the other side be straight pipe. Leave the stock tips on and hopefully you won't be able to tell from the back that anything is different.

Is this reasonable? Should I just have the cutout dump straight out the pipe under the car? Are heat/sound etc an concern with that setup?

Thanks!

EDIT: I was just thinking about this and I realized this is what SI drive really needs. When you go to S# it should go to open headers, full boost map etc. That would rock :) I can't wait till Cobb adds that feature to the AP.
