Anyone clean the IAC before?

Recommended Posts

I went ahead and did this (the IAC in in front of me now) it's not that hard but be warned some coolant will puke out of the lines to the IAC (did not see this on any other sites.

I used carb spray and I cleaned out the hoses and I used about the rest of the can for the IAC.. the hoses alone had a lot of crap in it.

make sure you take off the top part that you plug in the connector to so you can rotate the shutter and when you clean it make sure it moves freely without any resistance.

haynes says at operating temp remove the IAC and make sure the shutter is closed like this

mine looked like this but I did not remove at operating temp due to the coolant lines I knew that would spill.

I tried that way before it did not help at all and I'm happy that I removed it.

You can see here how the cleaning helped on a warm start.
