cardwielder
can somebody plz tell me wtf this things is and what does it do... it doesn't look factory but then again it looks factory with some DIY tweaking. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010017.jpg its had an on/off switch and some wiring that runs down a bit into this thing. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010018.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010027.jpg it also has a 10amp fuse and the another cylinder fuse not sure of the amps. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010025.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010026.jpg then that wiring comes out thru the firewall in this other thing. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010019.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010020.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010021.jpg then it makes it way to the throttle body, as if it were for cruise control. idk where to turn on the cruise control. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010022.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010023.jpg there aren't any knobs or switches i see that say the norm cruise control things like on/off, coast/accel anywhere in the car. the little box thing has some words on the other two buttons but they are like illum type where you cant read them unless there's power applied. tried shining a light on them at some angles but nothing. so can somebody shine some light as to what this thing is or how to operate it? its been on the car since before the person i bought the car from and they didn't put it there and don't know what it is either. ehsnils
Looks like a third party cruise control. Remove it if it isn't working.

cardwielder
thats what i was thinking. but idk about all the other wiring that down there. i am having some shifting issues w/my transmission, its not shifting to 2nd or 4th, even manually. not sure what causing it though. the main thing i am worried about is this set of wires here. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/cardwielder/jdm%20subie/S4010027.jpg its tied into this thing and im not sure what its for. but 1,2,3, and 4 could be my gears not sure. not really in the position to risk messing something up. it doesnt seem to be interfering w/anything tho. but if anybody knows for sure what that set of wires is for plz let me know thanks. whitetiger
looks like you got a wiring nightmare on your hands. id try to get it as close to sotck as you can make it. take all that aftermarket stuff out.
ehsnils
Start with unplugging the connectors and see if something changes. That's usually a safe measure since you can always reconnect them. AT gearboxes that doesn't work as they should are a nightmare since you never know for sure what's wrong.
fffourtwenty
Looks like an old speed control setup, also remove the sensor(s) that may be below the car on a drive shaft, maybe and inductive setup with a magnet on the shaft and the pickup on an odd little bracket next to it I had a similar setup on an old Ford Sierra I had, there were so many splices and wire-taps it looked as if the Borg had done it in or something D

Platinum_Racing
I had one of those. It was a 2001 that blew through 2 automatic transmissions. The second one let go at 100,349 miles. I'd buy another one though, but only if it was a manual. Their auto tranny's blow. I'm sure they've improved, but I'm not putting my faith (And money) into finding out if I have the option of going with a stick instead.
