Excerpt:

Motor Trend is reporting Subaru's version of the Toyota FT-86 (aka Toyoburu) will be underpinned by a revised Legacy platform with an Impreza rear suspension. This should result in a comfortable chassis that isn't too soft when the roads turn twisty.

While the FT-86 will feature a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer engine with approximately 200 hp (149 kW /203 PS), the Subaru model is expected to use an updated 2.0-liter turbo with 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS). Both models will have a six-speed manual (from the Impreza), but an automatic transmission will likely be offered as well. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive doesn't seem like part of the package.

Styling is expected to be virtually identical to the Toyota FT-86, as all body panels will be shared, but the Subaru version will feature a unique grille, modified bumpers, and different wheels.

The car will likely go on sale in 2013 with a base price of $25,000+.

I don't think I like this car anymore...

Almost has a evolutionary look to the SVX. Not really, but almost. It would be hard to make something close without using more out-of-date styling than would be viably sale in today's terms.

The rendering may be just another sketch too. Seen plenty float around. If I don't see some sort of release by this years autoshows...I don't think it'll ever really happen. More buzz than reality.

I remember reading an article somewhere about Subaru waiting for the FT-86 launch first and see how it sells. If it does sell well, then they will bring their variant out.

Think Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice. I think the Sky came out first, did a killing, then Pontiac brought theirs out. Too bad the Saturn version of the Opel GT looked much better than the Pontiac.

Anyways, here is the FT-86, all built up. If you use your imagination from the picture above, you can juxtapose the grill, lights, wheels, and bumpers from this drawing onto this real car:

The interior, I am assuming, will remain the same.

How quickly do you think they will be SWAPPING the subaru boosted engine into the FT86 with a frotn mount?

Probably when the Subaru version comes out in the following year after Toyota's release of their car.

Me want, but can I fit 2 toddlers in the back seat?

I don't see why not. It has a 2 + 2 interior setup, judging from the pictures.

As far as full sized adults, I seriously doubt any adult will fit in the back seats.
