bschaff Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I just bought a 05 LGT last week. Its bone stock right now and i was looking at getting some mods that will be a good gain of hp but wont put a huge dent in my wallet. I read a few other forums and was thinking about starting with a DP and Cobb Accessport. What are your guys thoughts on this? Im looking for the best bang for my buck. I heard the catless DP give off a scent and im not sure i want that. What would be the best DP for the most hp gain and not get that scent?
zmarko Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Skip the AccessPort, and go with a Tactrix cable. Check out the Tuning section of the forum for more info.
tzdevil323 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 ^ x2 on the tactrix cable Also look into a CNT/ERZ DP great quality at a great price. As for the "scent" you may just want to go the catted route and not worry about it, it not like you will lose any significant horse power. Since you have an 05' replace your up pipe as well to remove the cat in the pipe and free up some extra HP and to remove the possibility of it breaking up into your turbo. The DP has to come off anyway to get access to the UP. I'm hungry:bbq:This burger is never gonna cook.
big ears Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I know you want to gain horsepower, but I suggest you first invest in improved handling that can be achieved by Cusco/Whiteline sway bars.
moncur_6 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 uppipe first and foremost! opens up so much whp, definitely best bang for buck. I did invidia UP then shortly after a catted DP, got it road tuned by 311logan311 and had an increase of 50-70 whp and 40-60 ft lbs of torque (and it's a total sleeper with the stock cbe.
jranmann Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Good insurance policy? http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh93/JRanmann/Screenshot2010-07-21at54654AM.png
Verwilderd Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 ^^^ That isn't nessecary, but still cool. I have that in my car and do love it.
Verwilderd Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Oh and the regualr price is the sale price???? Not much of a sale if you ask me.
jranmann Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Yeah that sale sucks! I found this gauge kit for about 560.00 recently FOB Los Angeles in Subaru night time color with background (Daytime) in white or black...These you see being the black. Cheers!
moncur_6 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 As cool as the gauges are...I could think of many other things to do with $800... Maybe someday!
jranmann Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Yeah, $800 is way too much but under $600 is do-able. See: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/compilation-cheap-and-free-legacy-mods-84688.html for lots of low cost GT mods. Cheers!
nycparkie Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I purchased my stock vehicle this week too. I'm thinking brakes and anti-sway bars first. Then attack the power. Pulls harder than my 105 hp scion did anyway
dr_sharp Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Pulls harder than my 105 hp scion did anyway What doesn't? lol
Brock Samson Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 4th gen LGT's absolutely need suspension and braking improvements before any more power is added...so A. better tires, B. brake pads (Hawk HPS or equiv) C. some suspension upgrades (I guess sway bars would be the cheapest/quickest way to get that done). Then get a VAG-COM cable off ebay or a Tactrix cable and get ahold of Infamous for a remote tune.
nycparkie Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 at least it was stick shift. I can only imagine what the auto felt like.

ssabat Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 forum sticker, DUH! AS far as looks; Clear your headlights, 05 Headlights looks great with the missing amber GET HIDS, I went with 4300k,35w. They look really OEM like STi status Paint your grille, I finished mine matte black. i love it. Power; open source for the win or infamous1! hogzaust, no power but boxer rumble at the cost of labor and 4 3/8th washers!
E-Tank Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I don't have any cats and I don't get much smell. I started with a Cobb AP and really liked the ease of use. Plug and play is cool. Data logging features are great. I ended up getting an AP Etune from Infamous1 (our resident tuner) and ultimately sold the AP and went with a more aggressive road tune. TBE and a tune are going to yield great results and everything you need can be found used in the member classifieds. GL

nycparkie Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 What's a Sion? A Toyota ist for the US market. And a great economy car. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
fishbone Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I was just busting your chops There is no such thing as a Sion. You meant Scion My favorite Scion quote February 13, 2009 " I wouldn't put any of our cars as performance vehicles, but they are certainly very customizable" - Adrian Tse, Scion Marketing Director, Nov 25 2007 interview with Motor Trend

GL E-Tank, Out of curiosity, why did you sell the AccessPORT to go with a more aggressive road tune? Thanks, Gary
johnnymack Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 ^^^I went from tactrix (3 years, 3 OS tunes) to a COBB AP recently. I like to know the answer as well... I am very happy with the functions and features on the COBB AP.
