Gmoe
^ yea, but still doesn't sound the same to my ears. you lack the tortured woman part of the sound. lol
John M
As someone who's blown two stock turbos, I can say this does not sound the same as what I've experienced. This was turbo #1. It sounded like rocks in a blender even with just a little damage where the blades made contact with the housing. Contact is contact - any amount means trashed turbo. http://moojohn.com/subaru/turbo2.jpg
executor485
Tell the guy in the passenger seat to stop screaming like a little school girl... But yea, that sounds like an exhaust leak If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off.
DavidPHumes
I'm going to take the air filter off my turbo tomorrow and check for shaft play. I'll report back. I'm hoping it's just a leak!
ehsnils
It does sound like a leak. Check that all hoses between turbo and manifold are OK and properly connected. Mega Users LieutenantDan Posted July 4, 2010 Mega Users Share Posted July 4, 2010 Noone knows where the leak is coming from so don't act like you know. It's obviously a leak (not a failing turbo), could be exhaust or vacuum (probably exhaust) Just find it and fix it. Simple
MisplacedFrosterXT
I'm going to take the air filter off my turbo tomorrow and check for shaft play. I'll report back. I'm hoping it's just a leak! Good luck. You do realize that it isn't that easy to just check the shaft play, you'd have to remove your turbo inlet, which means removing either the turbo, or the intake, neither or which is that fun a job. Best bet if you wanna check shaft play is to remove the downpipe and check on the exhaust side. That's much easier to do than your other options, esp. since most people don't manage to get the inlet back on the turbo correctly =). jeremy
