Warped drive flange?

So can someone tell me what the drive flange is? I think its part of the wheel hub? Are these known to buckle? causing vibration through steering on motorway worsing under braking. Is it a seperate part or only option is to replace the hub in this case? Its either one of the front hubs but unless there is any visual sign of damage i guess ill have to replace both fron ones. Are the front and rear hubs the same?

Thanks :)

Vibration in the steering wheel is normally wheel balance.

If it's only during breaking, it's most likely dirty brake rotors. The normal fix is to re-bed the brakes.

Do 3-or 4 hard almost stops from 50-60mhp. Do not stop completely, drive for about a mile with out stopping to allow the rotors to cool.

You may have both issues. Do the re-bedding and see if that fix's it during braking.

BTW, I have never heard of a drive flange. I'm 55y/o.

ill try the re-bedding, thanks, no noticeable build up on the rotors though. ill try the above. i found out what the drive flange is any way, part of the bearing, that can supposedly warp out of shape, will check that out too over the weekend

Any update, I also have a vibration at any speed above 40mph and a shimmy under braking. No rotor deposits, brakes a properly bedded and fairly new, wheels are brand new and road force balanced. Replaced ball joints and tierod ends, it is drivingme crazy and I cannot find the cause.

Unfortunately the dealerships around here seem less than competent, we do have a COBB shop near by that I might have to take it to.

yes it wouldnt be a main dealer i leave it too either, rather a Subaru specialist that builds impreza rally cars on a regular basis, hopefully he will have the troubleshooting skills to find the cause of the problem

replaced front drivers side wheel hub yesterday and it seems to have solved my brake shudder issues. Will be bringing it for a long cross country drive on the weekend so i can properly test it out :)
