Hi Kris,

Here is a thread where I posted my really easy install of a Delphi Roady. I didn't want to do a permanent install because when the JL Clean Sweep becomes available I'll be changing it. This took maybe 30 minutes and looks pretty good, IMO. I attached it to the dash with two faced tape. I wanted to use velcro, but I couldn't find any in my tool box.

What tuner are you planning on getting or what tuner do you have. The size of the tuner will definately dictate where you put it.

I don't have pictures of my antenna install yet but I have it on the roof by the liftgate.

Best of luck on your install.

Rick

Kris,

I think that there will be a connector available commercially soon; until then member mvigneau has been taking orders for one he makes, and people have been getting the connectors from a wholesale sample source.

The Clean Sweep will give a true "aux in" jack, but it will cost $400. If you are going to add amps and speakers, it's the place to start your system.

The FM wireless stinks, but that's made up for by the fact that you have XM. That is why I did a simple installation that is easily reversed when I get the Clean Sweep.

Here's a pic of a Terk XM Commander tuner custom mounted in the cubby. Not a difficult install and it looks nice, remains accessible and can be hidden by closing the cubby door.

Best regards,

Yeah, but I LOVE my cubby! And hurry up with that CS! :D;) You know that I'm going to have to get amps, and speakers...

Kris,

Just installed a Delphi FM Direct Adapter (part # SA10112-11P1) with my Roady2. Huge improvement on the sound quality over the wireless. Its compatible with the SKYFI2 also. For $25 its a good value for a hardwired solution in the short term. Two nice things I like about it is the small size and no need to supply battery to it. See link at MYRADIOSTORE for more details : http://www.myradiostore.us/fmmodulators/

Now the bad news is that you need adapter cables to interconnect the modulator between the antenna and the radio antenna input. Search on member mvigneau for the sign up list for the cables he's making. There's some progress on getting the sample parts. I sent him 3 connector/terminal sets yesterday and others have sample parts already on order.

  • 1 year later...

I am getting ready to install a Terk Commander in my second LGT...the first one had it attahced in front of the ash tray.

This time I am thinking about having it installed in my cubby...I really only use it to hold my parking pass...has anyone who has the commander or another XM receiver installed in the cubby had an issue with the space behind the unit?

I searched and saw another post about using a box from radioshack to take up the 'extra' room...I kinda wnated another opinion...thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is how I did my Terk Commander. I used the mount that comes with it. I trimmed the sides off the mount to allow it to fit in the cubby. Wasnt to big on drilling holes in the cubby but if returned back to stock only one will be visible. I plan on doing a better writeup but just wanted to give you some ideas.

Here I used some L brackets, 2 screws and some epoxy to attach the brackets to the Commander mount. Epoxy was only applied to the mount not to the cubby. Also cut a small hole in the back to run the wire through(this would be visible if returned back to stock. The others would be covered by the rubber pad that sits in the cubby. I removed the pad altogether)

This is the cubby put back together with everything installed. You cant see the mount to well but it looks real clean.

Here is the wire coming from the Commander. I ran the wire through the hole and then put it together because the plug on the end is so large, a massive hole would have to be drilled to run the wire back and forth freely.

I hope this helps. I am really pleased with the way it has turned out so far. I still have to install the rest in the car. When I am finished I will post some more pics.

made this mount, but didn't like it.

I decided to put it just below the shifter, partially covering the seat warmer buttons. I will post pics when I get a chance.
