kamikazeridah
Well just got my tail lights back from Clear-Guard today. Felt like an eternity waiting for them. Anyway these are, well should be at least, the full smoked covers that are offered. Without further ado here are some pictures... TAckhouse1
How I drove my car around for awhile http://bingweb.binghamton.edu/~dmeng1/tails1.jpg I'm going to take a wild guess, that that isn't legal.....

Deer Killer
btw.. since I want my legacy to look like the one in the logo... how legal is this?
Guest *Jedimaster*
Did you really drive around with plastic taped on your car? If so, for how long?
kamikazeridah
I'll take some side shots tomorrow when I get the chance. As for smoked tails being legal, I can tell you that they aren't DOT approved so I'm assuming that they aren't legal but I have never had a problem with them. I had smoked tails on my last car and was never pulled over or ticketed for them. I guess they are like tints on your window, a cop most likely won't ticket you for them unless he pulled you over for something else and sees them or needs to meet his quota or something. Lastly, I was just kidding about driving around like that. I'm not that foolish.
Deer Killer
So how much dimmer is your reverse light? I'm torn... that looks so good, but I'm trying to find more powerful reverse lights at the same time.. and the cut-out one would look stupid I think. kamikazeridah
Yeah I chose the full smoked cause I didn't think the cut-out one would flow as well. The reverse light is basically light brown now. I don't think it became too dimmed. It's still bright enough so that people can see that you're reversing. I'll grab some more shots of the reverse light during the day and maybe some at night tomorrow(well technically today) to help give you a better picture. IwannaSportSedan
I would think with halogen backup lights (I think they make halogen replacement bulbs with a standard base, but don't ask me who. I had them in my probe GT, and they were BRIGHT. Since you only use the backups for pretty short ammounts of time, the heat isn't such an issue. Hopefully the tint film would stand up to it. I wonder if PIAA, or any other company makes standard single and dual filament bulbs in a higher wattage (like 30 watts instead of 21/23 or whatever the standard ones are. That might make a tad bit of brightness difference to counter the slight tint. That would be something that could be used for stop/tails as well. I like the JDM/ROW sedan tails anyway, with the signal in the center clear section. There was a site posted somewhere on the forums where you could order those from Oz. I'd set em up so that the bottom red would be bright tails, the top red would be bright brake only, with the center amber turn signal and halogen reverse, all under that lighter smoke tint. I really like the smoked out tail light look on the sedans for some reason. Ususally I don't go for that. I think it would/does look great on a contrasting color like ABP or GRP. On Black it makes the rear end look a tad bit blank. OK if you are going for the K.I.T.T. look, though.

d.scott of suburbia
I like it! (debadge it cough cough :-)What's involved in debadging the car? Are the badges drilled into the car, are they just stickers that you can just 'peel off', or are they glued to the paint? Also, do you have to repaint after debadging? TAckhouse1
usually some dental floss, and a little goo-gone is all that is needed. Nick
OCDetails
The only one that is going to have holes is the logo. All of the letters are just stuck on. You can use a hair dryer or a heat gun (if you have one) to warm up the badges a bit and then just floss them off. You don't have to drive around with plastic on your car to do this. He dontated his tail lights for a week so they could use them to make the template for other sets. The plastic is there because he has no tail lights at that time. You don't have to remove anything to apply the film. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . KevinSoD
We love the smoked tails! I was wondering why he had to ship out the lights, we have had them on our site for a while now. We have a black LGT with out smoked tails and tints done sitting on the showroom floor. The last one we put together lasted just a few days. Hopefully Kevin can get some picture of it and post them. But since this is my only car, I couldn't ship my lights out to a shop for prototyping, and I am not local to either tint-cover shops to help with proto. So is any other shop out there trying to make something for the wagon?

kamikazeridah
The covers should be the darker ones, unless they put the wrong ones on which I hope they didn't...
