llmask
i searched and searched. Can you use something like a Y RCA cable to multiplex two inputs from like a HU and a Ipod (or Some other device) to an amp? I am not sure if this would cause noise or if it is even recommended. Would using a relay to switch between the two inputs be another solution?
Tronix
well, alot of amps have more than one input.. a low input (Rca) and a high input. or wire and RCA. ive seen a few different combinations. So you could do it like that.. But If I were you, I'd just buy one of these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32836&item=5767473272&rd=1 and hide it somewhere. Then you can just select which source you want. and its cheap. $10 shipped. -Tronix(wax on, wax off)GT for more pics and info... http://angevine.org/legacy/legacy.html
msmith
NO! You need to use a non-shorting switch to toggle between the sources. Most amps that have high and low level inputs tie these together internally. Connecting two sources would likely damage the source units. DACT audio makes a high quality rotary switch which is non-shorting... http://www.dact.com/html/input_selectors.html You can also use a solid-state switch such as this one from PIE, the MPSS-2 http://pie.net/index-2-details.cfm?recordID=MPSS-2 Hope that helps, Manville Smith JL Audio, Inc.
