NSFW
Why not aim the woofer into the passenger compartment, with a baffle to minimize the energy lost to the trunk?
lucas569
clean up that wiring, otherwise looks like a LOUD setup.
lucas569
Why not aim the woofer into the passenger compartment, with a baffle to minimize the energy lost to the trunk? ive found in most installs its louder with the sub facing the rear.
ltr450racer690
wiring will get cleaned up for sure. its bugging me, it sounds way better with the port facing the trunk.
darkside
Well I built sound systems for a living for 10years, I dont get it why 6 batteries for a 100x2 rms and a 1500rms amp. why not use MDF to make box. that wood will surely flex under high load. MDF will give you a more solid sound since it will barely flex. I run mmats d2000 , 1600rms and soundstream 150x4rms wit 2 re 12s for 2yrs and lights barely dim. Nice set up but need to clean system up. Looks like a fire waiting to happen. Dont put amp on bx, it will rattle stuff inside amp loose wit time. If you have room put a piece of wood on top of batteries and put amps in their instead. Also I hope u have a battery isolator,if not look into a stinger isolator they have these, if not goodbye alternator. Sorry to nit pick, but ive seen it all and would like to save u from some headaches down the road. System are not cheap to replace, especially those amps. ltr450racer690
ok so here it goes. I am running the amp at .5 and i have clamped 2135 at 14.4 it drawing anywhere from 300-400 amps of current. also going to put 3k on the sub and its a bandaid til i get my high output alt. the box is made of birch. its twice as strong and half the weight, tons better than mdf. it double baffled all the way around so no rattles or vibrations . the amp is fine, i do have to clean the wiring up.putting the amp on top of the batteries would not work and no airflow = dead amp. its all good i like to see what other ppl say and think. and more ? just ask kyle
darkside
Oooh ok. I didnt know those amps went down to .5 ohms stable. In that case yes you will need some batteries. Look into Ohio generators alternators the best on market ,or stinger alternators. 300amp alternator should do. Or We used to get big Ambulance anternators and modify to fit on cars with custom brakets. There about 250-400 amps. If you remove amps back plate and bolt to wood , and cut some holes with some fans you could put in wheel well. With that kinda stress on amp, added fans will definately be recommended. I got fans under wood on my amp, any time I put some hurting on subs, i turn on fans just for added protection. I was looking into 2 nightshade 12s but hard to find in Florida. Th3Franz
aren't the pre-outs from that Kenwood kind of weak for your setup? -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
darkside
Should be at least 4 volts, adding a line driver will increase signal to 8 volts, providing more output with less volume. If anything more mids/highs in front. Kick panels would be great if more mids needed.
ltr450racer690
the output is 5 volts for the pre outs but the sundown amps only like 6 volt inputs so im not worried about it. new update. picking up a sundown 3000 this weekend and taking the watts from 2200 to 3500 plus easy. order a high output alt for it also, will get pics when its installed
