SubyDude555
Do I need these brackets when I install rear Brembos on a Legacy? http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt49/SubyStud555/Brembos-1.jpg
Darkness of Death
i believe there was a couple of vendors here that made brackets for the rear brembos to adapt to our cars. this is probably because the ones in the picture wont fit our cars - assuming they are stock off the STi itself
PhilT
The brackets are anti vibration dampers, and no you don't need them. You will however, need adapter brackets and other work to get them to fit onto the Legacy. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

gdawrx
darkside: I can't seem to find them on their sites, could you link me?
rnstein69
MachV should have them as that is where I got mine. I found the link to the rear caliper relocation bracket for a WRX... this will not work for the LGT, but it looks very similar: http://www.fastwrx.com/retwcaad.html You can call them and see if they still carry it. BAC5.2
I just need to know how much to grid off for the screw to clear the suspension part. Trial and error. Just take a little off at a time! Leonardo
I only have a Dremel. Wonder how many bits I will need!!!
FredBeans
I used this tungsten carbide bit with my dremel and it made quick work out of the aluminum trailing arms. Maybe 5 minutes per side and another 2 minutes with a sanding drum to smooth it out. http://mdm.boschwebservices.com/MDMCache/English%20%5BUS%5D/t06/0000000/r00070v1.jpg
Leonardo
If I only had aluminum arms!
FredBeans
It will work fine on steel, probably better. Aluminum is soft and gums up the flutes of a cutter like this.
Leonardo
Got it at Lowe's and I'm starting install in a bit.
BAC5.2
But you grind the steel knuckle, not the aluminum arms, right? FredBeans
Whether the trailing arm is made of aluminum or steel it seems that some grinding is needed to clear the top bolt for Brembo adapters.
ebpda9
i got some 06 wrx rear calipers that i want to install. However looking into replacing the backing plate for the brakes. They are only about $80/side, so it comes out cheaper than the brackets. I assume the STI and the wrx use the same backing plate, or at least the positioning of the caliper is the same
