Chuckadian
Hey guys, I'm going to change the timing belt this weekend and I'm wondering what else I should change while I'm in there? I know Volkswagons pretty well, and with those you always change the tensioner, rollers, water pump, and thermostat while you're down there. Are these Subaru's similar? What should I change in addition to the belt? Also, it seems there are two types of tensioners, one that is separate from the roller and one that is part of the roller. How do I tell which one I need? Thanks!

kaz98gt
definitely water pump and thermostat. as far as tensioner...how many miles are on yours? it would have to be a feel thing; mine felt like it could last another 50k, but I changed it anyway because I had the piece and wanted to be absolutely sure. as far as the rollers, they all felt good, but again it's another feel thing. just to be safe, pick them up (I think there are 3) and you can always return them if the ones that are on now roll fine.
