blankie55
I have a 95 legacy, I was putting a new timing belt on and everything lined up and looked good. when i tried to start it doesn't turn over and smoke comes out the air filter. Any suggestions?
Bdubs
Used the wrong marks on the pulleys? Don't use the arrows, those determine TDC of a piston. Hash marks on the outer rings are what you should be using to line the belt properly.
Platinum_Racing
What engine is in this car? Is it the 2.2 or the 2.5? Not that it matters, both engines were pretty much the same in terms of timing belt changes, and both engines of that year were interference engines. When you say it doesn't turn over, do you mean the engine won't rotate at all, or that it won't fire and just keeps cranking? Either way my guess would be the timing is off. blankie55
It was the belt I had the crank lined up wrong! I got it running now.
