I'll try to take a good picture of the display with my camera. I think it looks much better than that Pioneer.

I appreciate that!

You already have pics up here somewhere of it installed yes?

I'm liking the pioneer so far because it's so small and although the picture could be more detailed it is bright and works well in low light. A better picture is always good.

Ignore the dirt, but here's the cam installed:

Car is facing east at 5:17 so the sun is directly behind me.

I just wish there was a way to adjust the lines, but it's actually pretty spot on.

Obviously I have it attached to the right-side of the car, so the bit of bumper you see is in the middle of the car.

The red line touches the bumper, and the ground projection is ~18 inches behind the bumper. The right hand yellow line, is a pretty good parallel parking guide, and lining it up with the ground/curb interface gets you a few inches from the curb.

So the whole unit replaces one license plate light assembly?

Did it fit well? How was it to run the cable?

Fit just fine.

I have a wagon, so running the cable sucked. I think it was probably one of the least fun things I've ever done on a car.

But I'm happy with it. Walking by the car, or even around it, or up to it, you can't see the camera.

  • 2 weeks later...

Love threads like this. Great information.

Just ordered the camera BAC5.2 has and the wires from monoprice. Camera will probably take a few weeks to get here, but I'll post my results when it's all setup.

  • 4 weeks later...

So I got my camera about a couple weeks ago and got it installed that weekend.

I should have done a little more research, but it turns out this camera isn't a direct swap into one of the license plate lights housing like on BAC5.2's OB.

Because I wasn't 100% confident in the camera and how long I'd have it I didn't want to cut out one of the license plate lights so I mounted it to the left of the license plate because there's already a cutout in the deck (above the plastic insert).

Anyway, so far it's been great. Red line shows about 2 inches from the bumper.

I've gotta ask if anyone has had experience with this camera & if anyone will do a tutorial? I'm getting a group together to do an install of this & the isimple iPod & Bluetooth system in a day! Any help would be great!!

I actually bought one of those first, thinking it would fit my wagon. I think I still have it.

I am still pretty happy with my camera. It is super stealth.

Does it also have the guide lines? I'll gladly take it off your hands! Also, would you be willing to be available for calls on July 8th as a bunch of us attempt to take on this challenge?

I wouldn't mind selling it.

July 8th, I'll be far out of cell service. I might have sporradic access to e-mail and the board though. It's not hard to install. Just plug it in.

By plugging into the molex connector the screen will automatically switch to the rearview cam when you put the car in reverse. Then back to whatever screen you were originally on when you take it out of reverse.

By using the rca port you would have to hit the info button twice to switch to/from the cam.

Thanks for clearing that up! Now, how did y'all wire the sound with the video input to the RCA (info button twice video). I would like to install another iPod cable to that so I can watch movies via the screen, but have no idea how to wire the audio.

The sound only comes through when you choose AUX on the radio and plug into the input in the armrest.

What I did was plug in a Y splitter so I have my HKS CAMP2 audio alerts and iPod plugged in at the same time. I just ran the cables from behind the dash and under the console.

Any pics or threads that helped you with that process. I have had no trouble with the Video line, but cannot decide where to split the audio.

Thanks,

C.H.
