ricz
I just bought a 2006 Outback. It has 59,927 miles in it and I thought I would change the spark plugs. The frist three were a chore but the last one ( number 4) gave me trouble getting the boot off. When it finally came off I got a hand full of oil with it. I am thinking that means the head gasket is leaking. I do not see any oil on the ground under the car just around number 4 plug boot. The plugs looked normal for the miles. I did not think the 2006 had this problem. Or do they all have it?

ricz
Thanks for quick answer. But what is a tube seal and where is it? Can I change it myself?
Beanboy
Seals the spark tube in the valve cover from the oil. Not sure on subarus if you need to replace the valve cover seal as well, but I would. Could be a pain because of it being an H4 in terms of access. Not too tough on the inline 4 that I did years ago. Look-up replacing valve cover/spark plug tube seals on NASIOC or here to find the procedure/what's needed to do. -B http://www.standardshift.com
ricz
It was the spark plug tube gasket. The dealer covered every thing since I had only had it 2 weeks. iT NOW HAS 62,000 and running great.
