Just a tasty BITE of LGT running.

Recommended Posts

While "making" my buddies S4 video (which I'll show you all

when he's done) he quickly shot a few shots of

me driving through a couple canyons.

It's hard to tell, but on the open canyon roads, (which we drove in both directions a couple times first to make sure there are NO cars coming...and

had a look out at the end we were heading to call us if a car was coming)

I was doing 80-90 mph most of the time.

Got a couple small 4 wheel drifts in...very nice.

In the shot of me coming down the hill, with the other cars, I was

going much slower (probably 55-60 in the 45 mph zone). I saw the cars

from a long way away, so I didn't run hard...plus that was right at

a freeway on ramp where we stopped to mount the video gear to Kurt's S4

when he said, just go up the hil and come down, I'll shoot a quick shot

of you first.

We are going to shoot more this Saturday, once the completed version is done I'll post it.

P.S. He knows he logged the link with the typo on Subaru too.

You'll need QuickTime player to view (I think).

Free download at apple.com if needed.

Thanks guys.

Again, this was shot in about 10 minutes time.

I was just "tagging" along when he told me to go run up the hill and

come back at a "decent clip" then he quickly walked around the car

with the video camera and hopped inside and said, "let's do a run up

and then back down the canyon a mile or two.

Ian, with your stock RE92's you'd been in the ditch with how fast I was going! :D

My Pirelli P Zero Nero's were biting like a pit bull, but I still got a couple of

slight 4 wheel drifts in the 35ish mph corners I was taking at ohh 60ish

I don't think those made it in the video, more than likely because

Kurt couldn't hold the camera straight as the G's were pulling him to one side or

the next. Plus, I worry about our crappy stock brakes fading too much too.

Kurt has complete inside and outside car mounts so

you can put the camera anywhere.

I'm sure you'll all like what we shoot this weekend.

His car stuff will look probably even better, since he's got A LOT of

footage of his S4 doing different runs.

Wheels are Enkei RPM2's

18x7.5 inch in Hyperblack.

They are near perfect. Polished lip would make them perfect, but you

can't have it all.

They are 18.9 pounds each. Or about .8 pounds less than stock.

Tires are Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S

215/40/18

Many go with 225/40/18's but the 215's are as close to stock

size as you can get. The 225's are too tall and raise you

final drive too much...throwing off your speedo and slowing acceleration.

go to the 7th thread down for some photos.

But know...the wheels look better in person.

For some reason they don't photograph very well and look

a bit dark.

As for suspension...completely stock. Doesn't handle as well as the Audi S4

stock for stock, that's for sure...as my buddy would pull away a bit from me in the

twisties, and if I pushed my car any harder I'd of been in a ditch as I said, I

was getting some decent understeer going into the corners, and a bit

of drifting if I powered too hard out of the corners.

Plus the S4's brakes are WAY better than ours, so he could go into the corners

faster and brake later than I could comfortably do in the LGT.

All I'd need is STI "pinks" and probably a sway bar, and better brake pads and I'd be able to stick to his arse in the twisties easy.

But I prefer the ride as it is now.

I don't track the car and trust me, I was close enough to my buddy in his

S4 on that couple mile run that any S4 driver would be impressed that a

car costing $20K less was keeping that close.
