Installing a trunk lid mounted Rifle Rack

I am sure that this will throw people, but yeah, I am in the process of installing a trunk mounted rifle rack. It is a BSR-1 by Big Sky racks. I figure it is a safer place to put my 9mm carbine than the back seat. I'm currently working on mounting plates while I'm waiting for the rack to arrive...

Lol interior. My rack didn't arrive today but at least I got the steel reinforcement plate in there. While I was in there I went ahead and ran the back up camera wire to the tail before I covered everything back up. Now when it gets here I can just put in the few bolts and done!

I think its fine as long as you don't drill a hole through the rear of the trunk to point the rifle out of.

Was that politically correct? Oh well.

Seems like a better idea than letting it roll around the back seat or the floor of the trunk.

It's not a spec b that would be a tight fit. He would have to be a little person. Now am I PC?

I sometimes forget how the rear seats in my 05 did not fold down. I am spoiled by the folding rear seats in my 08's.

I guess if he was thin he could put his waist through the "ski" hole (the armrest). This folds down. Otherwise it is a cramped shot for sure. Oops, I think I did it again.

Rofl! That is exactly why I am putting in the rack. I don't want it rolling around, and my gun carrying cases are too big for my trunk, without having the fold down seats. Although I am looking at doing that mod. It just sucks because the only junkyard with 07 leather back seats around here wants over $400 just for the upper parts of the back seat, no hardware included... :(

Although, sticking a midget in the trunk with a peephole might just keep people off my rear....haha like someone could stay on my rear in MY race car! :)

Hmmm, well I got the Big Sky Racks BSR-1 yesterday, and it didn't fit. So it's on its way back now. Just FYI, never believe the sales person when you ask dimensions.... :( So today I picked up some Kolpin Gun Grips II and I'm for sure how they will work...My shotgun and carbine fit super tight...I don't know how much pressure the trunk will take when I'm pulling them out. I'm going to read up on modifying them, (go figure, modifying a mod, guess I've been on here too much :) ) see if I can heat them up or something and stretch them, and I will have an update tomorrow. BTW I will put up pics of the guns and Gun Grips so you all can see what my current idea is in just a sec!

I wasn't either until I read the reviews and shot it for the first time. Only then did I buy it. It has less feed issues than the Beretta CX4 Storm, but makes a tighter shot group. I didn't believe it til I tried it. Then I shot it so well I had to buy my own. Now of course, YMMV and I'm not recommending ANY of their other firearms lol B-)
