Exhaust upgrade - Fujitsubo LegalisR Evolution - awesome!

Recommended Posts

I bought this last week for my 99 TT RSK and got to enjoy at full over weekend. Sound is really good, none of that ricer farting crap. Solid deep boxer sound slightly resebles Porsche 911. You can hear it most at about 2000rpm. In-car it's still very quiet and you can enjoy your music as with default muffler.

Perfomance. It is about the same before 5000 rpm, but after that - its maddness!! Second turbo just gets this boost of power and throws the car forward. It almost feels like a waste that you have to switch gears at 7000 cuz it feels like there is more power at higher RPM. It was raining yesterday, and I did one of those Legacy rocket start killing a BMW and Audi at the same time, and my car briefly lost traction at 6000rpm!! Never thought it was possible on 4WD car. It felt awesome I drive a 4EAT RPM drops really low after gear change and I have to wait again for second turbo to kick in and for fun to repeat itself. I need to figure out how to deal with it though.

But in any case, exhaust is a must upgrade for any turbo car, and if you fancy just a bit extra sound, and still enjoy a smooth quiet, yet very powerful ride, Fujitsubo Legalis R Evolution is for you.

I should have put up somewhere that we've got a couple of those exhausts (used) kicking around here in Tokyo, could have let them go for a *very* good price. Also have a Recaro seat with seat rails for your model, and some other misc. parts used. :)

Definitely have to keep an eye on this. From the picture it looks like it's not a catback but axel back. Can you give us more pictures? Maybe a sound clip? In-car, out-of-car, etc.

Thanks.

i have a sound clip from in car engine start/low rpm

Hey, AVO's almost local to Tokyo - officially within the city limits, but out in Hachioji area. About 45 minute drive on the Chuo out of Shinjuku. I'm in proper Tokyo city limits myself. :)

You can get an earful of aussie english from Ross at 042-549-1296. Give him a ring, and maybe we can all meet up out there at the shop!

LOL @ SG :)

Just on the inside line - one reason I junked the Fujitsubo (I've used the Legalis Super R and R Evolution, plus various others;) ) is due to a pinch point it has on the pipe. It is designed to work with the std centre, so even if you whack a Chunnel sized tube ahead of it, the muffler pipe is small at the joint. At least at the very top end on manual cars, that pinch stuffs flow up - you can hear it on the track from outside the car. The Fujitsubo sounds like a balloon deflating (uncontrolled, turbulent), vs a really good set of pipes that keep the pulse/exhaust moving cleanly (oft louder, but with a tune, oh so much more rewarding :D ).

That takes nothing away from the nice things Legalis R Evo does (to a std car): better sound FX, and a bit more punch. Certainly looks good, and not too loud, IMHO.

HTH :)

Ross has amazing email habits, I know...

I'll dig around for the exhaust samples. Look around on http://www.apexjapan.com for the old B4 twin turbo articles I wrote. The catback - center pipe with sports cat and avo exhaust - was fantastic, in the end when it was tuned out, the car felt much like a big V6 or small V8 from the low end on up.

Cheers
