LegacyDan
did you say 24 Sqaure FEET? you covering the trim! or wait you have a 2003. do they have side trim? ye i got a big ass piece, was thinking of doing the bonnet when i ordered it but not too sure now it would look good on a black car, so might open up my own carbon vinyl business doing some stuff locally until i run out of vinyl! FYI mine is the 2005 usdm equivalent

amp27
o, the whole hood. it would look fine on a black car. couple people at my school have carbon hoods on a black car. but what about the fact that they are only 25 inches wide.... are the seams that easy to hide. 12x25 for the lips right? LegacyDan
whats only 25 inches wide? vinyl i got was 72 x 48 inches which would do a full bonnet and have a bit left over. tried to do the scoop again tonight but its hard to get the curves done right, wasted 2 bits of vinyl already. Did my old grille a bit instead. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/7873/dsc2904.jpg http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6066/dsc2909.jpg http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/8800/dsc2919.jpg

LegacyDan
i actually think its impossible to do the scoop insert without have a join a some cuts visible somewhere, back to the drawing board! i have wasted a lot of this stuff already
MaStaMooN
Which package from http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com would be enough to do this: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_y662cR2205s/SxwkKq2dwVI/AAAAAAAAEVQ/5RvzxStH4Vs/s800/DSC05795.JPG Or maybe just the center console part.. dont know if I wanna do the handles.. but would want enough around to do it. Also I have never done this so I guess I would need some extra for messup/redo.. Thanks Jon - vBGarage Profile
LegacyDan
probably 12" x 48" depends really on how well you cut out for each size to minimize wastage. you could get more and sell it on if you dont use it up

LegacyDan
I tryed the alternator cover, i could not get it to stick, how did you get it to stick did you give the alternator cover a good cleaning before you used it? Any area that gets too hot the stuff will just come of after a few days you can buy some 3M bond for the edges that may help it stick better on corners
ArcTec34
I'm tempted to clear coat this... hmmm http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/blog/experimenting-by-clear-coating-di-noc/
ArcTec34
first thing I did.. could have done a little better job in a few places, but its not noticable enough to call for a redo.. heres a big pic so people can check out the detail of the actual vinylhttp://berzindesign.com/FILESHARE/shift.jpg

tobey457
Finished my interior with the 3M di-noc CF film. This stuff gets easier to work with as you go, but overall it works well. The doors sucked to do! http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/tobey457/a3-2.jpg http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/tobey457/a4-1.jpg http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/tobey457/a5.jpg Not sure how much I like the look, to me it still looks like fake carbon fiber... but I guess it's better than fake wood! For $35 it was fun to play with and serves a purpose for now - one day I might send the pieces out to have them wrapped in real dry CF.
