Theride
Are there any problems with the auto trannies on the non turbo cars? Are these trannies BULLIT PROOF?
Chocoholic005
No transmissions are bullit proof. With this one as long as you are careful not to overheat the thing and don't add anything significant to the car you should be just fine. Just don't do anything stupid with it. Theride
how long will these last for with regular day to day driving? 100k? lifetime?
Chocoholic005
If not abused there is no reason it shouldnt last 200K+. Just take care of it and change your fluid regularly.

RJS5689
From what I've heard, the 4EAT is fairly durable.
ClimberDHexMods
None of the high mileage thread guys have said anything that I recall, but the non-turbo 5eat is a little different from the GT 5eat. But your car not being GT is definitely better for trans life. Change the fluid completely every 30k miles, and consider changing the atf filter as well. Subaru says not to, but that's stupid IMO. Filters don't last forever, but I guess they're betting on it not getting filled up with junk before the car gets junked. [CENTER][B][I] Front Limited Slip Racing Differentials for the 5EAT now available for $1895 shipped, please inquire for details! The only non-turbo 5EAT is used in the 3.0R/3.6R.
BrownBoy
Do fluids at 30K intervals and the filter at 60K intervals. The 4EATs are pretty stout though. My first car, a 92 Legacy L, had 190K with maybe 1 or 2 fluid changes its whole life, till it finally blew.

Advice number two is USE THE SEARCH FEATURE and you'll find out why intakes can actually do some harm to our cars. Advice number three is don't take this personally, we were all new here once. ConnertheCat
My 2000 GT has a 4EAT auto, ~150k miles with no issues. I would expect the same for an '05 (or just about).
