collier89139
I wanted to if anyone knows why my Bad water pump would have what appears to be gunky rust looking deposits on it. I have had to put a new radiator and water 2x now and both times the water pump seemed to have rust colored gunk on it and has made it seize. Is it bad heads, wrong water in radiator, bad radiator? Does anyone also know if you can do a radiator dip on your own to clean it out? Thanks for all your help on the quest to put 300k + miles on this beast. Platinum_Racing
Those deposits aren't normal. Perhaps there is a leak somewhere? Check head gaskets. I think you might have noticed a decrease in power and coolant in the oil by now though...
Bdubs
With the age of the car, deposits may have loosened somewhere else in the system, and caused it to clog. Try flushing the whole system out with distilled water before you put new coolant in it. The water is only like .89 for a gallon, so it's much cheaper to do this 2 or 3 times until you don't see any more sediment. Then, either use the PREmix coolant, or dilute it yourself with only distilled water.
