veritas
I normally wouldn't ask such a question but I saw a picture of someone elses and it seems in that pic, that the filter is very close to opeing where the air funnel connects. When I put My AVO filter in it basically fits right between both halves of the air box. Do I need to shove the filter all the way in as close to the funnel opening as possible. That would require squeezing the hell out of the rubber on the gasket. Maybe the pic I saw was an optical illusion? here is a pic of how it went in...Is this right? It was pretty easy, just annoying. Darkness of Death
did you put it in backwards?
veritas
What would make you say that? I put it in with the lip facing foward so it fit flush against the front part of the air box.
subaruski
did you put it in backwards? looks backwards
veritas
which way should the lip of the gasket be facing, towards the back half of the air box or the front half?
veritas
I just looked at the instruction sheet it came with and it appears I put it in right. I'll try and reverse it tomorrow and see if it fits that way. If anyone can snap a pic of theirs in place so I can see if I'm losing my mind, I'd be great full. Darkness of Death
....i think you're right that it is correct..maybe it's bigger in depth than the stock filter? well as long as you can get the ram air scoop back on..i guess you're good to go
subiedad51
It's in right. Here's the AVO link and install pix. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-49187380673845/panelfilterinstall.pdf
johnAWD
Are you not able to get the 2 halves clamped back together?
veritas
No, I can clamp them back together, I just had it unclamped for the pic. It snaps together fine. Subiedad51, Yeah thats the pic I looked at after that made me believe I did it right. The pic instep 6 shows the filter with the lip facing in, and thats the front half of the air box, not the back half.
subiedad51
Yes, that picture is a bit confusing but your filter is in right. I did mine without taking everything apart and it does feel like you have to jam it in to the airbox.
johnAWD
You're good to go. Be sure to put the cool air snorkel back on.
veritas
Added the last pic with it half in so you can see the recess part of the lip. Thanks guys! No sound increase but pedal response seems a bit better. Could just be me, lol.
