Increasing tick over RPM

Recommended Posts

Hi, Can someone please tell me how I can increase the rpm on my 1991 1.8l petrol legacy when it's ticking over? When sitting at traffic lights the rev's are too low and it sometimes stalls and also when you dip the clutch whilst going down a hill. If anyone can suggest what to do to fix this it would be ace.

Cheers

JOnny

I posted the simple answer to the problem in your other thread. There might be a vacuum leak somewhere causing the problem, but if you adjust the idle as I mentioned in the other thread it should be fine.

To summarize the other thread, there is a screw with a spring around it either on or behind the throttle arm on the throttle body. By tightening this screw you will increase the idle. You want it somewhere between 500 and 1,000 RPM's.

Good luck. :)
