kaz98gt Posted October 26, 2009 Share Posted October 26, 2009 went to a lift today and had a friend join me in looking at my legacy from below finally! squeak from hell still continues, and it seems like it's coming from the torque converter area, but he brought up an interesting point. there is a brake/clutch in there that locks it once in higher gears/speeds (I just learned this and thought it was pretty cool ). the squeak continues after the car has been shut off, and he suggested that the brake in the torque converter had broken down or something that allows it to freewheel after the engine's been killed. any ideas or previous encounters with torque converters going bad, and how could I tell if it is bad?
