bigb3630123
On a scale from 1-10 how bad is it for my car to run on 1 brand new tire and 3 very worn tires. All tires are the same exact size....just obviously 3 are worn waaaay more. I don't have another 400 for new tires but still have to get to work. OGG
Short term you should be OK but long term it could wreck your center differential. I've never done it with a manual but the two automatic Subarus that I ran with mismatched tires both eventually needed the transfer clutches replaced. E-Tank
My boss put a doughnut on her AWD Explorer, drove 30 miles, and as she entered her neighborhood the car caught fire.

__raj
My 25 year experienced Subaru master tech says 1/2" circumference(distance around) difference is fine. Subaru states 1/4". He says 1" difference will break/snap internal transmission parts. I know manual transmission cars are more tolerant to differences than automatics. That just shows because someone makes Master doesn't mean nothing more than a status. I personally have seen cars with 1/2" difference create torque bind;) Pics 08 KawasakiZZR 600- exhaust and other mods 98 Camaro Z/28 HT- some mods......street/strip car 07 Legacy 2.5i- SPT exhaust...daily driver
Guest PeteAWD
STS wouldn't replace one tire on my Sub. All four or none. They said it will damage the transmission (nexus with the AWD). They showed me letters to prove it.
