kaz98gt
Hey I have a 2.2L engine in my 98 LGTL and I'm pretty sure everything behind that timing cover should be replaced (don't know how many miles the motor has, and there's a squeak coming from behind there probably from a bearing). Has anyone done a job like this on a 2.2 before, and do you have any tips/things to look out for when doing this on my own? Thanks!
Bdubs
Everything you are going to want to know is here: http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/2.2SingleOverWin01.pdf Squeaking is probably an idler pulley on its way out. Check Ebay, they have complete kits inlcuding water pump for only a couple hundred bucks, if you choose to go that route.

kaz98gt
Yep it's been replaced at some point along its life why? Oh and the squeak didn't go away which really got me pissed...the damn squeak is driving me up a wall. Any ideas?
napstermike
i didn't know if your near jersey, i have a subaru shop if you ran into any problems. squeak could be a pulley of bearing, maybe your acc belt pulley, hard to guess.
kaz98gt
nah were up in connecticut sorry. that's just the thing though I think it's a bearing but it's so hard to pinpoint. I took both belts off the other day to see if it'd change and when the alternator belt was off the squeak was still there but very subtle. It's gotta be something to do with load, but it's not from any accesory belt pulleys. How about idler pulleys in the crankcase?
