Salt and Pepper Calamari

Crispy Salt and Pepper Calamari

Ingredients

1 lb Squid or Cuttlefish

Veggie oil for deep frying

2 cups corn starch

1 tbs shzechuan peppercorn

1/2 tablespoon sea salt

2 eggs (beaten)

4 garlic gloves minced

1 tbs ginger

4 chili peppers minced

2 green onions diced

1/2 cup onions diced to tiny pieces

 

Instructions

Clean Calamari

Lightly score the inside in a cross cut (This is just display purpose, this is optional)

Make some rings and strips

Herds and Spices Prepped. Set aside

Crush peppercorn and seasalt togther then mix into the corn starch.

Get your frying gear rdy then fry about 10 peices

Put all calamari peices a bowl and mix in with beatin eggs.

Pick up several pieces of calamari and roll it in cornstarch mix.

Deep fry for 1.5-2 minutes each batch.

In a different frying pan, add in 1 teaspoon of veggie oil then heat to high.

Add in herbs and spices then stir fry for 30 seconds.

Add in fried calamari pieced and toss everything together.

Serve Immediately, garnish if desried. Hot sauce is optional.

My wife would absolutely love this. I think I can tell what you do.

You've got some salt and pepper. I know, it takes a genius to figure that one out, right? Eggs and flour for the batter. Toss the squid in the salt and pepper, then the eggs, flour and then throw in the pan. For how long do you fry it? For garnish I see some chopped green onions, possibly garlic, some hot peppers and what else? Am I close? This seems easy or at least easier than some other recipes you've posted.
