specialB
Is it worth dropping a fat chunk of change for a bigger TMIC or is it just worth it all in all to just get a FMIC
kirbwrx
depends on your future goals. plan on going much bigger later? might as well get the fmic. Staying stock or near stock sized turbo, maybe larger TMIC.
boosten-n-bluntin
imo i would go with a bigger tmic unless stage 3 in in the near future . with a front mount and a vf40 you will have a lot more turbo lag. look around in the marked place you can pick up a used one for around $
Darkness of Death
didn't notice any difference in turbo lag with stock turbo on fmic before i upgraded the turbo
05pearl
I bought an AVO tmic because I did not want to cut my front bumper up. Now that itsme is coming out with a no cutting fmic for around $700, I am considering it.
Darkness of Death
that would be a good choice..good price as well.
05Boost
go FMIC. If i wasnt trying to be first to install vf52 when i did i would have went fmic. Way better and now im limited because of it.
specialB
Well I'll be paying the bank off for this car until about 2014 soo until about then its going to stay rather stock sized turbo but once I 100% own it i'd like to see it in the 500 horse club. I dont wanna have to cut the bumper or lose the fogs. but i already see kits coming out that you can salvage that stuff like pearl said.

mightyS
A pro tune with the larger TMIC will give you more than enough power. At my last 2 autocrosses, I never thought I needed more power. I just thought, I wish this car were smaller so I could fit through the cones.
F-WDC Spec B
you might as well stay stock tmic for now as its good through stage 2 then when you get a bigger turbo you can go fmic.
specialB
mm i think im feeling the same. 500 at the wheels would be sweet, wont need her for a daily driver by then she'll turn into my tunner project

Cutting the bumper and the beam is all part of the fun in installing the FMIC

fonts
Going with an FMIC will also give you more turbo choices when the time comes to upgrade. I went with a TMIC and am second guessing that decision now.
Darkness of Death
there's a lot of choices for the wrx/sti turbos...and prices are/could be better too.
cryo
I went x02 fmic but it was a hard decision. I weighed cost, later turbo options, not blowing the stock tmic apart while playing with stg 2 plus e85 before turbo upgrade. my research has led me to believe there should not be a HUGE difference in spool but rather a few hundred rpms which I can deal with. your choice.
