ean611
looks like I need a torque converter, getting covered by warranty per TSB. Anyone know if they need any break-in, or how to do it?
VTGT
Can you link to the TSB I believe my TQ converter has been acting funny as well.
ean611
VTGT, the TSB that affects my car is for the 08 to very early 09 5EAT's only. Corrective action was taken Jan 09. As you may know, the 5EAT from 2005 and 2008 are different.
fishbone
No break-in needed for the torque converter, however you might want to replace the ATF filter after you've driven it for a while (year or so) in case there are some particles from break-in period of various bearings, etc. Not a huge deal but you know how anal retentive some of us are on these boards ... BigInALegacy
Ahhhh, EAN not you too! Good you caught it though... it's like a $1200 fix... did they say anything about the tune? I assume not. FWIW - mine's been running strong since the new one. About to post my update here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120386&highlight=torque+converter
ean611
mine wasn't that bad, I caught your TSB post and brought it in. They replaced it. I'm sure they saw Cobb DP, AVO TMIC, and SPT intake
BigInALegacy
Haha, yah I imagine those are tough to miss. Well that's cool they didn't care... I can see a dealership trying to weasel out of it by saying it was the mods. Good to see they took the high road and owned up for it. Glad to hear you got it taken care of. ( BTW - Stage 2 goes in tomorrow, wish me luck! )
