05pearl
You could have just gotten the cheapest Maaco paint job for the price of all the cans of rustoleum you used.
pillboy
But now it won't rust and he can open the trunk, throw in some charcoal and have a grille (hope he used high-temp black). It is still ugly.

whos_that_guy
if i had the money for a paint job i would have gotten it done, but u gotta remember i just put alot into the car rebuilding it http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh265/SayingSorry1988/fuck3.jpg this is what it looked like 4 months ago
05pearl
^^ Well you sure did a better job than I could have. And, if it makes you feel any better, I don't think anyone could have done any better with 6 cans of Rustoleum
Bdubs
Nice job replacing all that bodywork. That is a tedious job for sure. My only suggestion would be to repaint it the stock color or something close to it, because all of the underbody and inner panels are still silver.... John M
I would have picked those cans of "Truck & Van" spray paint at the parts place because they're larger than normal cans. You would also have had a choice of real automotive colors -- metallic black would look nice. Either that or you could have tried the "roll your car" painting method. Google it -- the results can be amazing if you've got the time to put in it.
E-Tank
Wow! You really are magic on the spray can. Mat finishes are in, too.

shtbxr22
maaco sucks i seen their paint jobs, and i only used 6 cans its better then a 99cent primer black paint Maaco can do a good job. I wouldn't knock them. if you see a crappy job again from there, ask the customer how much was paid. as any other body shop, you get what you pay for. $400=shi+, $1000=ok, $2000+, they can rock that at show. I dislike non researchers. same thing goes for parts/service. you get what you pay for.
shtbxr22
also, OP! go, and scuff that car up. buy one can per body panel of clear coat, lay on several coats, then once everything is dry/built up, wet sand that bastard, buff that bastard, wax that bastard, and that mamma jamma will be sweet! shtbxr22
Note: I did it to my 93 wagon, and people complimented me over and over. had many skeptics about me using spray cans. adds more pride, I think. also, if you need to practice, get a piece of scrap metal and practice on that.
