whiteout
I can't open my tailgate to check the wiring. I have removed the access panel and pushed the lever down. I can hear the mechanism moving. The handle feels like it does when the hatch is locked - no resistance. Pushing forward doesn't help. How do I open the tailgate to remove the trim and access the wiring? Any suggestions will be appreciated. john
MajorWood
Yes, it is the little white plastic lever on the driver side which needs to be moved up-down (IIRC) to allow the handle to actuate the lock mechanism. I am wondering if the connecting cable is broken. Shouldn't the handle have resistance when locked? Absence of resistance to me would point to a bad cable. I know that the lock itself is held in place by a pair of large (30-40ish) Torx bolts on the bottom. I only popped off the little access panel so I have no idea what other stuff can be removed with the door closed
whiteout
My handle never offered resistance when locked, only when unlocked. Now it never offers resistance even though moving the white lever sounds like it is unlocking the latch mechanism. john
