  1. I've had my ECU replaced TWICE now, last time was 11 months ago. Guess what...cooling fan ON all the time again...took it to the dealer, they diagnosed it as a fried ECU (my THIRD one). As in the past, they have tried to blame it on my AccessPort reflash, but I've not married my Cobb to it since the last ECU was installed. Then they tried to blame it on some other mods I've done, but agreed it could not have been the HID lights. Now the issue is being taken to Subaru Canada to see if they will replace it under warranty. My 05 is out of it's official warranty, but I've read in this thread that: a) there may be a 12 months part warranty b) there may be an 8 year emissions warranty that is still in effect. Assuming the worst, that Subaru Canada will ignore my problem, has anyone ever fixed a fried ECU? Failing that, shouldn't take much to make a custom outboard circuit that uses the same inputs to decide when to turn the cooling fan on or off. I just can't see myself paying $1300+ to get this fixed. I moved from Audi to Subaru so to escape many reliability issues, but now, 5+ years into Subaru ownership, it's not any better than my Audis ever were.
  2. I also had the ECU & relay replaced about a year ago, but when I brought it in recently for a serpentine belt job, they found the fan running all the time. I told them I had the recall done already, but they said I should bring it in and have it done again. The service manager said "I know you've flashed your ECU but I won't tell Subaru but that's why it failed again". I unmarried my AP and brought it in for service, they replaced ECU & fan relay once again. Observations/questions: 1. Gas mileage has improved noticeably, approx 15% 2. No way could it be the AP, but now they have me concerned...thoughts? It's winter so I won't remarry the AP for now...no need for extra HP in snow. If anyone local wants a v1 AP, make me an offer... Hardly on this forum in the past few months, new job, spare time dropped drastically:icon_sad:
  3. well, I got my switch repaired when I took my car for service over the weekend. Mine's an 05, but I bought the extended warranty for another 2 years, thinking that would cover parts&labor for the repair. NOT....they told me it's not covered under the extended warranty, had to pay $200 to get it fixed. Get it fixed under the original warranty if you have a problem with yours!
  4. Oh...just an alcohol pad...great...thanks for input!
  5. Ordered these for my wagon (E3610AG010) from my Subaru dealer many months ago -- they finally arrived. The instructions mention using "primer", and the diagram shows "P K500". Does anyone know what kind of primer they are referring to? Of course it wasn't included in the parts list. Wondering if this primer would be similar to the stuff used on ABS plumbing? Don't wanna ruin the exterior trim by using the wrong stuff. In general, apppeciate some pointers from someone who has installed these visors, esp. since the English instructions aren't very clear.
