Prova Mirror Overlays

I had the mirrors off for a grandpas eyekit install. I guess if you could somehow seperate this black backing plate /mounting plate and get it to install on the Prova part, you could do it. That would also definitely answer the heating question with a big NO.

I don't think so. They fit on the models that have the integrated turn signals in the mirrors. (05+ LGTs, 3.0Rs, and I think Outbacks, if so equipped) Now, I believe it is possible to swap turn signal side view assemblies.

My Prova Type A-C mirrors arrived today from JapanParts. I test fitted them and they fit the '05-'07 mirrors perfectly! I didn't install them though because it was too cold out (stupid global warming). I usually try to install things with double sided tape when it's warmer than 60 deg F out to make sure it adheres properly.

Also got some Grandpa's Eye Kit. I did install them. I think it adds a nice touch of color to the outside and they're easy to install.

where did you get the Eye Kit?

Here is an observations for those wanting to get these mirrors as they are outstanding, but very finicky to install.

As for the mirrors not sticking or not being the right size, Ive noticed that the mirror will and can be warped if they were packaged wrong. It maybe due to heat or any pressure to the mirrors as they are packaged half in/half out inside a foam sleeve. This is just my observation, but I have ordered 3 sets for different Subarus Ive owned and noticed this.

As for the install, I added more 3M tape around the edges and put them on with SLIGHT pressure. Dont add any tape to hold them in place if you fear they may fall off overnight or something. The added pressure will crack them as they are easy to crack. If you do have to take them off cause of putting them on crooked, use a heat gun or blow dryer to soften the adhesive.

All in all, I love them a lot and there is nothing like them on the market I could find for other cars. Im currently using them on my Acura MDX even though the size is much smaller, but they work..

Mark,

I finally installed mine and noticed that the passenger side fit the glass well but the Drivers side does not. I'm guessing the JDM passenger (opposite) side mirror isn't flat.

The adhesive pad did not stick to the glass nearly as well as the passenger side. So I can see how some crack it during install. I'm sure I can go to the car now, after a couple hours after the install, and still pull it off. There is no way the passenger side is going anywhere.

Let's see how long it stays on there.
