2005 OBXT w/solid rear brake rotor

Hi gang,

I'm one of the unlucky few to have the limited run of OBXT's equipped with the solid rear disc rotor. All in all, not a tremendous problem, unless I try to replace the pads. No one appears to make after market pads. All I've found are the pads for the 05-07 OBXT, which are different from mine. The closest Subaru dealer wants $93 for these rear pads. Which is over MSRP. <sigh>

I see two choices:

1. order online and wait a few days.

2. replace my rear calipers and rotors to the 05-07 set.

Any other ideas?

Has anyone upgraded their brakes and would be willing to part with the stock set?

Cheers!

Hi Magnetic1,

That is the pad for the 05-07 OBXT.

Sorry but that won't work. :(

Cheers!

Hrm. Do you know what the pad # is? Lemme try to do some more investigative work tomorrow. It's gotta be some pad that crosses with another Subaru.

Hey flatsphere, you do know that all OBXT's have solid rear rotors right?? Is yours some sort of different size or something??

I just took it to mean he didnt have vented ones like LGTs...

The only thing I can think of is that some VERY early 05' outback rear brakes would have the "H6" rear brake set up from the previous gen Outback.

Flatsphere, you should check this out, loads of good subaru brake info here....http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265631

AFAIK ALL OB's have solid rear rotors and I am not aware of any 'limited run' that got different rears.

And there may be 1 aftermarket option out there for the rear pads. I'm not sure what that is though

Ah, didn't know they were all solid rotors. Assumed later had vented since those are the two options that come up when I search the on-line part catalogs.

It is the shape of mine that is different. slightly smaller tab outline and shape than the normal 05-07 set.

Thank you all for the additional links and info. The pad I picked up from AutoZone was d770, which didn't fit. I'll try the H6 (1114) as Magnetic1 and Urfsin suggested.

BTW Autozone lists the 1114 as being for the H6 only.

Cheers!

Magnetic1 was correct off the bat. :)

My early OBXT does use the d1114 rear pads.

I found ceramic pads at Kragen down the street and installed them without any difficulties.

Thanks again to you all for your help and advice.

Cheers!
