BLKGT5
Who does a clutch dump on a dyno? http://videos.streetfire.net/video/STM-dyno-tuning-a-Subaru_635650.htm
RochNY91TSI
That's a local place here in Rochester. It's a 1/4 mile feature on the Mustang Dyno; I don't know how beneficial it really is (or why you'd really want to use it) but it apparently came as part of the new system. Bolksey85
It's a good way to get a roundabout 1/4 mile time. You can also work on staging, launching, and shifting the same way you would be doing during a run.

rtbrjason
I'd be pretty upset if mine put 172/172 down stock. Is this just a really low reading dyno, because that is like a 30% drivetrain loss.

RochNY91TSI
It's a really low reading mustang dyno. Here's a post about an Evo's numbers for comparision: Stock turbo 93 octane 26 psi (tapering to 22) Comp 272 cams turbo back exhaust Buschur FMIC 305 torque 296 power (Once again, this is a MUSTANG dyno. For reference, a stock Viper makes 280 hp on this machine.) Here is the entire post about the LGT from the local forum Bill works with us here at STM and his car is (was) all stock. Stock: HP 174 TQ 174 After MBC and tune: HP 224 TQ 249 Gained 50hp and 75 ft lbs. Decent Here's the Video! Also shows the drag racing feature... kinda scary, but really cool! You can see on the chart the wideband wasn't hooked up on the stock run. http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/sheet_2_11_09.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/em_laptop.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/rear_aem.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/rear_straps.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/front_end.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/full_rear.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/front_light.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/wheels.jpg http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/z_dyno/pics/legacy_bill/tree.jpg Nice car Billy. ehsnils
Doesn't matter if it lists the power figures wrong - as long as it lists the figures consistently. You can at least realize that there is a difference with any mods done, the rest is a calibration issue.
Bolksey85
This is true but everyone says Mustangs read off. I thought Mustangs always read high. Some people say low. It's one thing for a single dyno to be off and need calibration. I think it's another thing when an entire model line of dyno is off.
Bbc84
This is a better DYNO RACE, wheel spin on the dyno lol [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8LZkny54vM]YouTube - 1/4 Mile Evo IX Dyno[/ame]

A stock LGT puts down just over 170 awhp up here at 6k feet on a dyno dynamics rig. I used that as my "baseline" when the mods started.
new04specv
hey everyone, that is actually my car. The mustang dyno's read about 25% lower than a Dynojet because there is actual load on the car. So that would put stock at 217HP/217TQ and jumped up to 280/311 on a dynojet. I think its a pretty good gain with just mbc and a tune...we have been working the tune out more since then. Car feels great

Those numbers are waaayyy high if you are not even stage 2. Rehab is for quitters.

Those numbers are waaayyy high if you are not even stage 2. Ive been told mustang dynos read out to be ABOUT 25% less than a dyno jet maybe I am wrong. Not sure about my first run numbers, they did seem low to me too but I was the 2nd car ever on the dyno. My numbers after mbc and tune are not bad considering I found a post by Habitual Line Stepper had 245 TQ and 232 HP at 17.5 psi, he had turbo back exhaust and cold air intake on a mustang dyno. So I don't think the dyno is reading low, just think it's a mustang Bill

mwiener2
We had a 1000+ HP Viper on the dyno a few months ago. Strapped it down like we normally do for the higher HP cars. As soon as the turbos began to spool the rear tires spun like crazy. The little grippers on the rear rollers shaved a few mm's off the tires and the entire booth was covered in tire dust. Re-strapped it and it put down 850ft lbs and 750 hp at 5psi at 5600 feet ASL. Bolksey85
Hot Rod magazine featured a Jason Heffner-built twin turbo Viper a few years back and this is what they had to say: Says Jason, "We can only estimate horsepower based on vehicle weight and trap speed because it's so hard to get a clean dyno pull. You have to air the tires down, roll the car on the dyno, cinch the straps down really tight, air the tires back up, put three guys inside, make one pull to heat the tires, and hope you can get a clean pull after that." His best guess is 1,600 hp. Link to the article: http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/113_0505_jason_heffner_dodge_viper/index.html
