Dawrah
so yea, my projects are pretty much finished for the time being....at least until the capital starts flowing again. got my protune today at Moon Performance by Seth up in Lake Placid, NY. here goes.... Car: 2005 Legacy GT 5EAT 71,000 miles Engine performance mods: Perrin lightened crank pulley AEM Cold air Intake Perrin Equal Length Headers Gutted '06 stock Up Pipe Perrin Two Piece Catted Down Pipe NGK 6619 sparks @0.040 but going to be re-gapped Tune Comments: boost at 15 psi, fuel cut at 17psi, 11.0 AFR 40 degree Fahrenheit and probably 70% relative humidity and 24 in H2O @1800ft Mustang Dyno: base run --> 177 whp and 181 wft-lb after --> 212.5 whp@6500 and 212.2 wft-lb@3600 correction factor --> 223.5 whp and 222.8 wft-lb http://people.clarkson.edu/~limd/LGT/P1010142.JPGhttp://people.clarkson.edu/~limd/LGT/P1010143.JPGhttp://people.clarkson.edu/~limd/LGT/P1010145.JPGhttp://people.clarkson.edu/~limd/LGT/P1010148.JPGhttp://people.clarkson.edu/~limd/LGT/P1010149.JPG I'm pretty happy with the tune, smoother feeling, lots of pull compared to before and just overall goodness. But i was wondering if the numbers seemed a bit low??? this is my first time, all your comments and opinions are appreciated
Bolksey85
That does seem low for essentially a Stg2 plus some. Isn't 15PSI a little low or was that your choice? I know some say the autos dyno weird and Mustangs are always off one way or another. Maybe he kept on the conservative side? Kept boost and timing moderate due to the factory intercooler? But hey, if you're happy and the car runs well, that's all that matters right?
Dawrah
yea, it was mentioned to keep it somewhat moderate because i do want to keep my car a daily driver and i want to have the turbo last as long as possible. as for the tranny, i know its a auto, so more loss there than manuals, i just don't know how much losses are truly encountered. and apparently like as subaru's, it was running dangerously lean, escpecially w/ the intake. here's a little vid [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbcuSMJgGXM]YouTube - LGTmusic[/ame]
Brad023
these numbers are really low i ran catless up/ down with aem cai, and perrin ebcs at 19 psi tapering 17 and made 226 whp and 253 wtq car is a 2005 5eat

snow05gtRI
would tuning your car in February have an consequences on summer performance since the air temps are so much higher in the summer?
Bolksey85
would tuning your car in February have an consequences on summer performance since the air temps are so much higher in the summer? Maybe a little of sluggishness from heatsoak but that's about it I would think. If anything, a tune done properly in cold air would be good in hot weather because of the added oxygen when cold. More O2 means more fuel and a better chance of knock. Am I right or am I confused?
subleg05gt
seems low.. my tdc stage one pro seems faster than its seems than that. i think im at around 220 idk never had it dynoed
subleg05gt
but i dont if im right my car has 64,xxx and is a 5eat limited. It prolly wont see a dyno for a while after stage 2. So i dont know what kind of numbers a TDC protune stage one map produces. It says around 230hp to the wheels but i dout that?
mwiener2
Overall numbers are low, but it's a low reading dyno Jump from base HP to current HP is good TQ should be much higher. These turbo engines are TQ monsters and should be making a healthy 15-30 ftlbs more than the peak HP numbers.... especially in a 5EAT My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons

These turbo engines are TQ monsters and should be making a healthy 15-30 ftlbs more than the peak HP numbers.... especially in a 5EAT It appears the tuner intended it that way. He could have likely ran another 2.5-3 psi in the midrange bringing that 3,000 - 4,500 rpm torque mountain considerably higher.
Irrational Exuberance
with similar mods i got identical HP (which doesnt matter cause HP is a contrived number) and 275wtq at 3300rpm /shrug "i like my women the way i like terrorists... ...screaming gods name and ready to explode." http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/5479/troy3nu5.jpg

Dawrah
hey guys, been away for awhile. any ways thanks for all the input. so far everything has been fine, no codes, no oddities, tranny is holding and everything seems to feel better than before from stock. at least from what i can feel, it pulls a lot harder. as for the numbers, eh, idk too much about what optimal should be; everyone's numbers seem to be all over the place. my manual FXT friend who tuned at the same guy got 230whp and 270 wft-lb with similiar mods. but the true test of the numbers and how well the tune was will be this summer when my friends and i head down to lebanon valley in albany ny and do some drag racing...yeaa keep the input coming or maybe what i can do to improve some more. thanks ....maybe the HP seems a bit low b/c it is a function of the torque which is a bit low... NSFW
IIRC, autos dyno about 10% lower than manuals. And Mustangs usually read a bit lower than most other dynos. But Cobb's OTS Stage 2 map runs 16 psi of boost. My car is running 17 psi, and IIRC MickeyD has done one or two LTG tunes at 18 psi. I can certainly respect your desire to stay conservative, but if you want more power, you have the option.
Dawrah
well if its worth anything, before i go for official times, i was having fun with my friend's gtech. weight @3.7 kips (me, my friend and sub). it claimed my 0-60mph was 5.6 sec, 1/4 mi was 14.02 at 96mph, hp @ 201 and tq @ 204. ......we'll see about true times this summer...lebannon valley
