NSFW
...especially now that we have a tuning forum? CSV is the format that all of the popular data-logging software uses. It's just a text file, completely harmless, no danger of viruses or anything like that. There's a workaround, but it's kind of tedious, and not especially conducive to helping new people. f1anatic
Actually NO. Make the feature available for uploading other files such as Excel. The end user is responsible for converting CSV to Excel, which is easy. But Excel (and Word) can be opened on almost ANY computer.
NSFW
CSV is far more widely supported than Excel or word. And much more compact, the files are tiny. And there is zero potential for malware in CSV files. They're just text files with an extension that facilitates loading by Excel and other software. Edit: it would be nice to have Excel support as well (.xls, .xlsx) but I really don't want to tie the decision about CSV files (which are a no-brainer) to a decision about any other formats (which do have issues associated with them). You can incorporate some malicious macros in xls sheets. csv files are the best way to go. If someone wants to work it in Excel, it's as easy as that... opening the csv file in Excel.
