Vsick
So here is my problem. I bought the following setup: 04 STI front and rear calipers Front and rear Hawk pads Front powerslot slotted rotors. I know the front bolts up fine, but it will cost me another 6-700 bucks to get the rears to work. I guess I would like to know what options are other for me. Would keeping the stock REAR calipers and getting hawk pads and new rotors compliment the front brembo's well? Any other after market BBK's out there that have similar bias to the rear STI BBK? Interesting in seeing what you folks have on your ride or suggestions you may have. Of course I will sell the rear brembo's if I don't use them. atc5
use the full brembo front/rear setup. using anything less than the rear brembo brakes will not yield you positive results...search and you shall find insight from others that have tried. unclemat has a rear parking brake adapter being made that will help you complete the rear setup. do it once, do it right. Bolksey85
This is sort of on topic so i'll post it up here. If a car is equipped with a full Brembo setup F&R, what's reccomended for master cylinder use? Is the LGT one good or would it better to step up to the (I'm assuming) larger bore STi MC? PeterJMC
If you want your rear brakes to be fully functional with the parking brake you have two options for the rear. First option you have to buy an expensive special rear rotor that allows you to use the OEM Legacy GT rear parking brake shoe. Second option will allow you to buy '04 STi rear discs. Your rear parking brake will not work with this disk so you need to buy a special rear parking brake shoe offered by unclemat. Right now Yimi Sport/Boost Junkie and FastWRX offer a rear bracket that lets you use a Brembo caliper on the rear. I believe FastWRX sources their part from Kartboy. I am waiting for delivery of this bracket from FastWRX. Dan (FastWRX) states that delivery is about a week or two away since they had the rear bracket redesigned for better fitment. I personally went with option 2 since over the lifetime that I plan on having my car this is the cheaper route. You pay more for the rear parking brake pad but that will pretty much last the life time you own the car. From what I read the special rotor you need to buy in option 1 to keep your parking brake working is around $420+. Go through a couple of sets of those and the parking brake pad would have been the cheaper route. Tomcat
Hi! I have also same problem... STiMY08 Black Brembo kit fits fine to Front but I have same job to do with the rear, but does the MY08 Black rear caliber fit with those brackets?? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/madachri/Photos080-1.jpg So are the list following for the needed parts. - Adapter parking brake pads, http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98966 - http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87864 I have allready made/drill new bolt pattern ( 5x100 ) to those OEM MY08 rear rotors ( 5x114.3 )
JSK05LGT
I would like the answer to that question as well, im told the MY08 Fronts will work, but the rears everyone is unsure... The space of the built on bracket looks wider to me on the 08 vs older years, but then again the LGT uses an adapter plate/bracket that extends the holes anyway... Not to mention the 08 STI is built on a Legacy frame if my memory serves me... different rear suspension according to Dan at MachV... still up in the air... KartRacerBoy
I think StopTech has a kit to use the stock rear LGT caliper but uses a bracket to move it out a bit to allow a larger rear rotor for more torque (on the theory the LGT has too much front brake bias). Whether this would match well with your car depends on the suspension you have. If you have stock suspension, I suspect it wouldn't make a difference due to brake dive on the soft stock suspension. It might lead to rear lockup if you have more rear braking effect with the excessive brake dive on stock LGT suspension. On the other hand, if you have stiffened up the springs, it might work well.
