Wooderson
I checked my oil this morning and my hood didn't latch all the way when I shut it. I didn't notice and locked it up. I came back out and saw it wasn't latched so I open it up and shut it again. Well, the horn honked 4 short times then started doing the long alarm honking. Does this mean I have the factory shock sensor?
Mr. Sinister
Yeah. It's installed under the passenger seat towards the rear-right of the seat.
LGT Dave
No, there is a stock alarm that will go off if one of the doors, the hood, or the trunk are opened without disarming it. When you lock your car with the key fob, the corner lights flash once (and there is an audible beep if you have that turned on too) to signal the alarm is set. The two flashes when you unlock signal it is disarmed. The optional shock sensor adds an extra alarm if the car senses that it has been physically hit with something. There is no sensor on the front hood to detect whether or not it's open. He has a shock sensor.
LGT Dave
Really? Ok my bad then. My last 2 cars that had the generic stock alarm had sensors in the hood as well so I guess I figured ours did too. If that's true then yeah, he definitely has the shock sensor.
