gelfling68
Would running a catted DP with straight 3" exhaust out the back work with a stage 2 set-up?
SilverSeraphim
By catted DP do you mean the stock DP with both cats in it? I believe you need to remove at least the first cat. If you're talking about an aftermarket high flo catted DP, then absolutely. This is what I've gathered from Han's today, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. gelfling68
Not any louder than a V8 with str8 pipes i assume?
itsme
Dont have to run str8 pipe to make power. I have a hi flow catt and 3 muffler and made 277whp with a fmic and stock turbo and 91 pump gas. I hit 18.5psi psi @2800rpms and my car is no louder then a G35. Now with my 20g w/ewg I getting @ 340whp on 91 cali pump gas. I hit 20.5 at 3300rpms and hold 19.5 at 7000rpms. Now all you hear is the turbo. Racer X FMIC for '05-'09 LGTs, '08+ WRX and '10+ LGT,'14+ FXT, and '15+ WRX TMIC Racerxengineering.com
gelfling68
Yea, but I can go to the local mufler shop and have some pipe bent and put into place for a few hundred bucks. Its more of a money option.

silentracer
On a related note does anyone know what the diameter of the pipe at the beginning of the stock midpipe is? (where the stock downpipe ends) I'm trying to create a similar catback and want to make sure i get the right reducer.
NSFW
The resonator is a Borla XR-1 muffler and dual Magnaflows mufflers out back. It's very quiet That's really cool. What did it cost to get that made? I'm tempted to put a bigger resonator/muffler on my car. I still have mixed feelings about the sound w/ catted DP, Perrin resonated mid/Y, and stock mufflers. GTSPECB STI
Here's my current set up with sound bite: 3" highflow cat dump pipe to 3" centre pipe with resonator and stock sti quads. Not loud at idle but a bit angry when you give it a good rev. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j60/Aussiedave_2006/MY07%20Liberty%20GTB%20STI/GTB%20STI%20mods/MY07LibertyGTSpecBSTI051.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j60/Aussiedave_2006/MY07%20Liberty%20GTB%20STI/GTB%20STI%20mods/MY07LibertyGTSpecBSTI052.jpg [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkBObnCGUDU]YouTube - MY07 Liberty GT Spec B Tuned by sti - custom exhaust[/ame]

itsme
Do you have any issue with the resonator hitting the underside of your car? No, but if you see it and my car sit low. So sometimes it rubs the ground on really steep driveways. But for the way it controls noise I will live with it. Mr. Ed
That is also a pretty chunky muffler to use as resonator...there are dozens of smaller choices that will do the same... also: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101750 post # 6...that is Kevin's car. Catted dp...3" all the way back no mufflers... sounds awesome..but too loud for my taste on a daily driver
