HID upgrade: Apexcone vs DDM

Is there a performance difference between them ? I know Apexcone and DDM are 2 brands from the same company. Is there one more reliable than the other ? More affected by heat or humidity? easier to mount (specify location) having slim ballasts with outside ignitors (DDM) vs. a larger module combining the ballast and the igniter.

 

I am upgrading my lights. I am not interested in any other brands since I think these are some of the more affordable yet well established brands - which people use. I have also seen "race" versions of these 2 kits - sold by the Vendor RPM here. What is a "race" kit ? a glorified 55 Watt upgrade over the standard 35 Watt ? Lastly, should I get a dual HID kit to put it on fogs as well ? or maybe for the high beams ?

I got the Apexcone 55w 5000K kit and its great and bright but if I could do it all over again I would either go retro fit or just get the Phillips OEM bulbs. I have had to replace my bulbs about once a year so far.

Race is 55W. Same thing. Apexcone and DDM is the same thing except the size in ballast. Although very good for a Chinese made kit, it's still a Chinese made kit and doesn't offer the same reliability as Japanese made brands. Just so you have all the info.
