Whats the 60K Dealer Service?

Recommended Posts

Each dealer is different. You can contact one and find out what they do for the 60k and how much, or you can give them a list of what you specifically want done and ask how much it will cost.

the maintenance guide only says when you need to bring it in not what need to be done. This makes sense, that way they can charge you out the ass, or I could just be over looking this somewhere but I been looking over this book for an hour.

The maintenance guide tells you what gets done at what mileage.

Click the link to the year you own on the left. Then scroll down and click the link at the bottom of the page. That is what is in your maintenance guide.

Good link. Quick question:

Is there a reason that ONLY the STi uses the long-life coolant? Note 14 says that the long life coolant only needs to be replaced for the 1st time at around 140,000 miles. It seems that legacys need to replace it every 30K, is this accurate? Could we switch to the long-life coolant??

^^^ I asked the service manager about using the new "super coolant" in older engines, or engines pre-08, and he said they were instructed to use this new coolant, yet change it with suggested intervals as previously determined.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Yes you can use the super blue coolant, but you still have to change it at the recommended frequency for that engine. Just because you have the newer coolant so to speak, the cooling system isn't. So Subaru still recommends the 30,000 mile interval.

Edit-I also found that if a car is flushed using the Wynns flush machine with the Super Blue coolant, the interval is 6yr/75k.

All 2009 vehicles should be using the long life coolant.

So this leads me to question as to whether or not they actually changed anything between the 08 and 09 in terms of the coolant system. I didn't hear about any engine differences, if it's good for the 09, why not for the 08?...I'd be interested to ask the dealer.

Try and find someone "not" a dealer who can take care of you..... they charge a fortune for the scheduled services, at least by me they do. Wanted in excess of $600 for the 30,000 mi lol

Next time plan a trip to Maine. Approx $350 for 30k service. THat leaves you with $250 for gas, hotel & eats- beautiful scenery FREE.:)
