Here in my parts, the fastest thing driven legally and lot I should add, is a 67 Dart with a stupid nasty 340-based stroker. I got a ride in it. We went from a dead stop to 110 or so within 1000ft. Now it's fed a nice bottle based diet and has easily run high 9's. And he drives it to a lot of the local car shows and I've seen him sit and idle in traffic for 15-20 minutes with his probably 8yo kid in it at a time so it's a driver as well.

The fastest street car around here is a big block supercharged thunder bird, hes gone low 8s on radials on 93 octane. And the fastest car i have even driven is between my girlfriends uncles chevelle or my uncles camaro, the chevelle is a 496 with a 400shot, the camaro is a 468 supercharged with a 200 shot. Both have been into the high 8s, most passes are deep 9s.
