CypherMax
I am cobb stage 2 tune with cobb catted dp, grimmspeed up. does anyone else get a pop noise while shifting under slight boost like .5bar? it sounds like its coming from inside the downpipe. i figured its normal cuz extra fuel is being dumpped and under the low boost any in the dp will ignite. im running stock cat back also. anyone experience this? P.S. there are no exhaust leaks.
Regal05LGT
Stage 2 pops, don't worry about it everything's fine
urs1ne
I get crazy backfiring when I down shift or up shift at lower rpms. Which is normal but I think in my case the GReddy Evo2 exhaust is also helping. mode or having my A/C on virtually eliminates it. ^ n00bs below this line

Guest LGT-NY
I love the catless DP smell ... That's normal too, you need to get rid of the stock cat back so you can really hear the rumble...

snow05gtRI
from the looks of his 2nd post, "i hope it doesnt ruin the cat" he is not catless, but catted. does this change anything for your responses?
fonts
i had the same thing happen with my DP and stock CBE. no issues I'm running Grimmspeed UP, Cobb catted DP, Autospeed CBE. Sounds like similar noise. No worries / issues.
CypherMax
yes i have the catted cobb dp. the backfire means that there is extra fuel in the dp which i dont think is good for the cat. who knows though if it destroys the cat oh well ill gut it for an extra 5hp! muahaha
urs1ne
Is the backfire "in the downpipe" or out the exhaust? It doesn't seem like it would have room to expand so it would wait at least until the Y pipe to actually backfire. ^ n00bs below this line
Bbc84
today my car was double popping on most shifts oh well.
CypherMax
with the windows open it sounds like it's coming from the dp area.

ArcTec34
they aren't backfires. Backfires would be out the intake side.. the popping is just unburnt gas being let into the exhaust, or in this case you hear it pop in the DP
urs1ne
Would it shoot fire if you had no cats? ^ n00bs below this line
Regal05LGT
If you are running extremely rich you may shoot a flame or two, my buddies used to every once and a while
ArcTec34
yeah i forget where the pics are but some guy had a really rich tune and took some awesome pictures w/flames before he got the tune fixed.. makes for great pics..
urs1ne
So a turbo back with the baseline Cobb Stage 2 may shoot a flame on a big backfire? It sounds like it should shoot a flame. ^ n00bs below this line
Bbc84
no flames for me, I have 3" XO2 Catless DP, w Megan Quad tip exhaust connected to the DP. I get the loud pops but never see any flames.
urs1ne
I just dont trust anyone enough to drive my car for me so I can follow and see if it does. Especially when it comes to rev matching on a hard downshift which really makes the cannons fire. ^ n00bs below this line
ArcTec34
flames arent exactly healthy- if you get flames, your far can be tuned a LOT better.
Regal05LGT
+1 if you have flames, you are wasting a TON of fuel
