urs1ne
That was the first thing I tried, I replaced the resonator with a straight pipe and replaced the cans with straight pipes. It sounded bad ass but I would rather hear the noise of the engine than the exhaust. Not to mention when I short shifted and got a good backfire on a 2nd > 3rd gear shift it would make children cry, and yes I mean literally, it was just too gnar for the sleeper image I am trying to maintain (at least compared to an STi or Lancer Evo). ^ n00bs below this line

MonkeyHermit
I would not recommend straight pipes on the 2.5i, would be too loud. I had the Borla CBE on my 2.5i and it was unbearable. I can't even imagine what straight pipes would sound like.
korpsepatrol
You can either do custom piping all the way to bolt on mufflers or you can get yourself a cbe, but most cbe will be 3 inch and split into 2.5's. monkey had something custom which sounded very mellow Hell if you want more snot you can get a mid and y and then pick your mufflers later. Or if you want louder you can get my whole set up http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94876 2008 6mt Legacy Gt Spec B DGM - Not so Stock/Work in progress 2006 5mt Legacy Gt OBP - Sold 2005 5eat Legacy Gt OBP - RIP R.I.P Coxx

Running no mufflers AND no resonators is a bad idea for the 2.5i.

Mr. Ed
take your car to an exhaust shop, have them replace your resonator with a mgnaflow resonator and replace your rear mufflers with straight pipe. If worried about sound buy a spare set of mufflers and have them put the extra flanges on your straight pipes. this way you can swap between straight pipes and mufflers I've got sound clips of this set up all over the site. Keep in mind the end result on an 2.5 will be not be quit as deep at WOT but will still sound fantastic. yourr end cost should be between $150-$
