Tactrix Drivers Hard to Find

Yes, ECU Flash installed OpenPort 2.0 drivers. I have an earlier Tactrix cable, 1.2 I think. The drivers may be backwards compatible, I don't know.

The download link for ECU Explorer is here http://code.google.com/p/ecuexplorer/downloads/list and Calvin, the author of the software, says this driver should work for me: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm since that is what he developed the software with.

I'm beginning to suspect my Tactrix cable is shot because other USB devices work fine in the one USB port I have on my laptop, but Windows doesn't see the Tactrix cable at all and doesn't even attempt to setup drivers for it. No "unknown device" prompt or anything.

Also, make sure you select the right COM port. The ECUflash drivers basically emulate a COM port on the USB port.

You can look to see if it shows up in device properties.

Yeah, I'm not getting the virtual COM port added to my machine at all because Windows doesn't see the Tactrix cable as new hardware. It doesn't recognize I've hooked up a USB device at all.
