Metal2You
The site that hosted ECU Explorer is down. Anybody know another place to download it or get just the drivers for the USB Tactrix cable?
enthusiast
The drivers are part of EcuFlash. My mod list
Metal2You
Hmm. I guess something else is wrong then. I downloaded ECU Flash and Windows still doesn't notice the USB device at all when I plug it in with the car running.
enthusiast
When you installed EcuFlash did you notice the part where it asked to install the tactrix drivers? My mod list
z28dreams
Also, make sure you select the right COM port. The ECUflash drivers basically emulate a COM port on the USB port. You can look to see if it shows up in device properties.
Metal2You
Yes, ECU Flash installed OpenPort 2.0 drivers. I have an earlier Tactrix cable, 1.2 I think. The drivers may be backwards compatible, I don't know. The download link for ECU Explorer is here http://code.google.com/p/ecuexplorer/downloads/list and Calvin, the author of the software, says this driver should work for me: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm since that is what he developed the software with. I'm beginning to suspect my Tactrix cable is shot because other USB devices work fine in the one USB port I have on my laptop, but Windows doesn't see the Tactrix cable at all and doesn't even attempt to setup drivers for it. No "unknown device" prompt or anything.

It doesn't recognize I've hooked up a USB device at all.
Metal2You
A system restore to before I uninstalled ECU Explorer didn't fix the issue either. Its gotta be the Tactrix cable. Hopefully I can get Access Tuner to work for logging and tuning once Cobb sends me the updated dongle.
z28dreams
Metal - if you want to pay for shipping, I'd be willing to test out your tactrix cable on my laptop and see if it works. (or check out your local legacygt / nasioc chapter) I'm located near DC.
